You’ll find a user-friendly photo index in the front of the book with thumbnail pictures of each recipe to help you decide what to make. Recipes are divided into categories ranging from Mimosa Munches and Appetizers to Small Plates and Pub Grub and from Saloon Sides to Sweet Treats and Delectable Drinks.
If you drink alcohol, you’ll appreciate the guide to mixing drinks, the section on wine and food pairing, the Paleo Party Rules (to help you clarify your intentions and minimize the effects of alcohol at your next party), and a Paleo Drinking Cheat Sheet to make you aware of the sugar and carb content in common drinks. The drinks section contains a colorful array of beverage recipes, many of which can be made without alcohol.
Whether you’re entertaining for two, ten, or 100, you’ll find delicious, eye- catching recipes for any occasion, whether it’s a company picnic or potluck, a holiday party, a fun family dinner, a date night, or girls’ or guys’ night in (or out).
There’s a Special Sauce Index (to encourage you to try the books’ sauces with other meats and vegetables) and a list of 10 Party Menus (to simply party planning). You’ll find easy to follow instructions and full color photos accompanying every recipe.
I like that the recipes all list prep time, cooking time, and how many servings they make. Many of the recipes have short prep times and cook times (another plus). There’s also an ingredient index in the back.
So far I’ve tried four recipes from Paleo Happy Hour. I’ve flagged even more that I plan to make soon. I’ll tell you more about my favorites soon. I want to take some prettier pictures. For now, I’ll post one of Kelly’s Cookie Dough Bon Bons. I made these with my neighbor Abby (an adventurous 11 year old girl who enjoys cooking and baking with me and being one of my recipe testers) yesterday. General Tao's Chicken was tasty (I made that a few weeks ago) but my pictures of it didn't come out great. I’ll post a recipe or two later this week.
For now, I’ll launch the giveaway of this book. You can enter as many times as you like. Spread the word about this book and the giveaway and you’ll get extra entries (how hard is that?). This book is well worth the cover price. For what you’d pay to go out, you can make and enjoy dozens of fabulous healthy happy hour recipes and meals at home, including some that would be perfect for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and any other holiday. Okay, ‘nough said.
