Chelsea

Hi Chef Rachel,
Which health food store do you go to for your bulk herbs and spices?
Thanks:)

Chef Rachel Albert

Hi Chelsea

In the Phoenix metro area,Sprouts & Sunflower Markets. You can also go to Desert Sage Herbs in Chandler or Chakra 4 Tea House in Phoenix (the cost will be a bit higher per pound). Penzey's Spice House has great quality too, but their seasonings cost more.

The Spice House in Milwaukee, WI is a great place for spices! Their spices are fresh, hand blended and they have lots of wonderful blends. They also have double strength vanilla-use half of the amount called for in the recipe! www.thespicehouse.com.

Forgot to add: most spices at the Spice House are gluten free and Kosher.

Thanks, Laurie! I've heard of Spice House. I may have ordered from them years ago. I'm not sure. That's great to know they have GF and kosher spices.

Double strength vanilla sounds good...I might still use the full amount w/that. I love vanilla. (Now if I could find a really good vanilla perfume w/out chemical additives! Any leads?)
